Writing Challenge
Writing as an art form is a lifetime skill that only few are able to sustain without a compelling need such as dictated by exam conditions. Unlike reading, which is to some degree passive and can be a part of leisure, writing is a more active process. It stimulates, awakens and activates cognitive processes which neuroscientists consider essential in maintaining implicit and explicit memory systems. In the process of conceptualizing thought and ideas the mind is required to attend and connect these virtual realities, and through the motor activity of penmanship, a now dying art-form or for the modern author, 'word processing' these ideas are formally documented as evidence of creative endeavour.
Firstbaze welcomes young writers to join our Young Writers Club as we begin a journey of discovery embedding ideas and expanding our zone of maximum potentials. From poetry to prose or from narratives to essays there is room to test out your talents and discover that hidden gem as we begin our search to find the Young Writer of the Year a Firstbaze Media Award to individuals across various age brackets - junior, middle-grade and senior writers. School heads are encouraged to register their pupils or students. Parents may also sign-up on behalf of their wards when the next quarterly writing challenge starts in each year.
Sign up for our annual writing challenges and be rewarded for your effort should you win one of the following prizes:
- Up to $100.00 equivalent cash price
- A new tablet/ipad mini device
- Or a paid holiday trip to a national tourist attraction or event
