Buy Maybell's book!
Selling a thousand (1000) copies of Maybell's book will make a difference.
To my colleagues and friends. Finding ways to impact people's lives could take various forms. Here, I decided to support Maybell's book sale, to tell her story hoping this could go a long way to open doors, not just for herself, but also promote our efforts to invest in similar projects in the sub-continent.
Since publishing Maybell's book, "The Impact of Parental Separation on Children: My Experience by Maybell Achigbue", it was evident that the aim of the project could only be met with appropriate publicity or for a more apt word, marketing. The idea of a book launch though attractive was soon put aside as the socio-political milieu did not seem to make that option any more appealing than a sensible but time tested straight talk to kindly spirited individuals, groups or colleagues who could spare the time and resource to support this course and "Buy Maybell's book".
Maybell (her pen name) is a mentee and young parent who, like most aspiring enterpreneurs from the African subcontinent, has proven herself to be quite capable in the right environment. Her efforts to run a dress making business, designing and sewing children's clothing seem to hold promise but unfortunately this too was snuffed out by erratic power supplies which made it impossible to sustain production. More distressing was the final straw, when their little generator used to fill the gap between endless power failures, also got stolen. The impact of these events has been demoralising and indeed frustrating to say the least.
The objective has always been to provide indigent groups a near equal opportunity to achieve their optimium potential through creative small business ventures. The sad reality is that whilst many talented individuals would naturally thrive in saner societies, the constraints faced by individuals like Maybell is not only disenfranchising, but often leads to desperation and in extreme situation an existential crisis or indeed annihilation.
Buying Maybell's book would do the following:
- Share her unique story to inspire, educate and encourage young persons, parents and families who may find themselves in similar circumstances
- Generate capital to support her young family sustain their children's education
- Procure a new power generator for her sewing machines
- Perhap's enable them find a new accommodation away from their current remote home where it's being harder to find customers
- Essentially, reward her dedication, hardwork and self-belief, that writing this book demonstrates.
Thank you for reading through this appeal. Kindly share to your immediate circle of friends. Above all, if you were to buy a copy, you are more likely to convince other folks to do the same.
'Buy Maybell's book' is a special appeal to friends, peers and colleagues on behalf of Firstbaze Community Impact Initiative, a Nigerian registered charity aimed at making a difference in the lives of young and aspiring enterpreneurs from the sub-region.
